An inspired chef

If there is a celebration involving delicious homemade food with friends and family around the table, Chef Otoniel Michel is probably around. Oh who are we kidding – he’s probably cooking up deliciousness and charming the room making everyone feel like family!

Since 2008, Chef Oto has been serving up the authentic food he grew up with in his neighborhood restaurant Estrella Negra. He has recreated his family’s rich traditions, with food at the center of the table and he couldn’t be more proud. Here, it’s always food made with love for everyone.

Not only will he serve you classic Mexican dishes you know and love like tamales and pozole, he’ll surprise you with some modern twists all while delighting you with craft cocktails you’ll savor. No matter if it is a Special Occasion, Dinner, Brunch or just grabbing food to enjoy at home, you can count on Chef Oto to serve up food worth celebrating.

Food + drinks!

Our food is certainly what defines us, but we don’t forget the wizardry of good drinks to wash it all down. Craft cocktails made with mezcals created in partnership with makers in Mexico are always at the ready. We aren’t quite a Taqueria, but we very well may be a Mezcaleria!

It’s easy to be surprised by our food, too. Who knew that a chef that can cook up the exact pozole his momma made could also create such tasty creations all his own. The flavor is always uniquely Estrella Negra and the legacy behind it is Chef Oto.

2346 is the magic number

2346 West Fullerton that is. And our restaurant is not just a place you’ll eat – experience art from local artists on the walls, laugh out loud at a comedian cracking jokes or hear a Jazz Trio playing their tunes. You can also host your own special celebration at Estrella Negra, a place overflowing with good vibes and delicious food.

Magic you say? Well you might just see an Easter Bunny at the restaurant! Or be breakfast tacoing at a pajama brunch or celebrating your birthday with friends. We love it all: carryout for a weeknight dinner to events we host at the restaurant, it’s always a good time.
